Where it comes from, and what is not in place yet.

A health site asks you to trust it. This page says what Avanti Medico draws on, how it credits that, how you can check it, and what has not been done yet.

In private testing, and opening more widely once its clinical editorial and safety checks are complete.

Avanti Medico is independent. It is not part of the NHS and is not endorsed by it.

Our sources

Avanti Medico's explanations of conditions, medicines and procedures are being built from the NHS website. No condition, medicine or procedure pages are published yet.

What we use

The NHS website publishes its content under the Open Government Licence, which allows it to be used and built on with credit. Every Avanti Medico page will name the page it was drawn from and link to it.

If more sources are added, they will be named here, and the licensing confirmed first.

What we do not use

  • Blogs, and sites written to rank in search engines.
  • Health publishers that live on advertising.
  • Forums, social media and anything written by users.
  • Health information written for another country’s system.

This is a list of kinds of source, so it does not go out of date.

How the NHS website is credited

Two labels, and each means one thing. They are never swapped.

Information from the NHS website

This label will sit on text copied word for word. It will come with a link to the original page and the date it was fetched.

The words after this label are the NHS website's, shown as they were fetched.

Avanti Medico’s explanation, based on public sector information

Where Avanti Medico rewrites or shortens, the label will say the explanation is Avanti Medico's, based on public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0, and will link to the original.

Adapted text is Avanti Medico's own writing. It never names the NHS as its author.

Keeping it current

Health information changes. Each page is being built to show when it was fetched, how recently it was checked against its source, and any change recorded since. You will not have to take our word for it: you will be able to open the original and look.

A date tells you how far to trust a page. If it looks old to you, tell us.

Clinical review

Clinical review is not yet in place; the reviewer will be named when it is.

Until a clinician is engaged, a library page opens only when an automated check confirms it matches the NHS page it came from, as fetched on the date shown, and the page says it has not been reviewed by a clinician.

Avanti Medico is in private testing and opens more widely only once its clinical editorial and safety checks are complete. When review begins, this page will say who carries it out and how, and each page will show the reviewer.

Each page says whether a clinician has reviewed it.

Corrections

If a page is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us through the contact page. We read every report. Where a correction is needed, we make it and update the date the page was checked.

Report a concern

Tell us about anything Avanti Medico should have caught, including a safety concern.

The limit of a good editorial process

Careful sourcing keeps general information accurate and current. It cannot make Avanti Medico a clinician, or account for your history, your other conditions or your medicines. That is why Avanti Medico explains and sends you back to a real person for anything that needs judgement about you. See what it will and will not do.

For you, the right person is your clinician.

Be first to know when it opens.
