The terms for using Avanti Medico.
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
These terms will govern your use of Avanti Medico ('Avanti Medico', 'the service', 'we', 'us'). Avanti Medico is operated by Avanti Mind Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16049394), with its registered office at The Venture Centre, Sir William Lyons Road, University of Warwick Science Park, Coventry, England, CV4 7EZ. Avanti Mind Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC172544).
These terms are not yet in force. They apply from when Avanti Medico opens, and nothing on this site invites anyone to accept them before then. When Avanti Medico opens, using the service will mean agreeing to these terms, and if you do not agree to them you should not use the service. When you create an account, you will be asked to confirm that you accept these terms and our privacy policy.
These terms should be read alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your information.
2. The most important thing to understand: what Avanti Medico is, and is not
This section is the heart of these terms. Please read it carefully.
Avanti Medico provides health information. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, triage or treatment.
Specifically:
- Avanti Medico explains conditions, medications and procedures, in general terms, drawing on publicly available NHS sources. It is intended to help you understand a diagnosis, medication or referral a clinician has already given you.
- Avanti Medico does not diagnose. It will not tell you what is wrong with you.
- Avanti Medico is not a symptom-checker and does not triage. It will not assess your symptoms or tell you how urgently you need to be seen.
- Avanti Medico does not recommend or prescribe treatment for you.
- Avanti Medico does not monitor your health over time.
- Avanti Medico is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is not a doctor, it does not employ clinicians to advise you, and it does not provide a clinical service.
- Avanti Medico is not part of the NHS and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS. It uses NHS information made available under the Open Government Licence.
Always seek the advice of your GP or another qualified health professional with any questions about a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read on Avanti Medico.
In a medical emergency, call 999 immediately. For urgent help that is not an emergency, call NHS 111. Do not rely on Avanti Medico in an emergency.
3. The information on Avanti Medico
We take care to build Avanti Medico's content responsibly — from NHS sources, with citations, and with scheduled checks to keep it current. Our editorial policy explains this process.
When Avanti Medico opens, you will accept that:
- Health information is general and may not apply to your individual circumstances.
- Information can become out of date, and no review process catches every change immediately.
- Automated systems, including the language model Avanti Medico uses, can make mistakes.
- Where Avanti Medico indicates uncertainty about a topic, you should give particular weight to seeking professional advice.
You should not act, or decline to act, on the basis of Avanti Medico's content without considering professional medical advice. Avanti Medico's content is provided for general information only.
4. Who may use Avanti Medico
Avanti Medico is intended for use by adults in the United Kingdom. When Avanti Medico opens, by using it you will confirm that you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into these terms.
Avanti Medico's content is built from UK sources and is intended for a UK audience. If you use it from outside the UK, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any local law.
5. Your account
You may use much of Avanti Medico without an account. Accounts are not open yet. When Avanti Medico opens and you create one:
- You will provide an email address, and you will sign in using a secure single-use link we will send to it. There will be no password.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since access to your email allows access to your Avanti Medico account.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You must not share your account or let anyone else use it.
- You must tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms.
6. Acceptable use
When using Avanti Medico, you must not:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that could harm Avanti Medico, its users, or anyone else.
- Attempt to use Avanti Medico to obtain a diagnosis, a triage decision, or a treatment recommendation — the service is not designed for this and must not be relied upon for it.
- Attempt to manipulate, mislead, or interfere with the service or its automated systems, including attempts to make the system behave outside its intended purpose.
- Attempt to access the service in a way that places an unreasonable load on it, or that circumvents fair-use limits, rate limits or security measures.
- Copy, scrape, resell, or systematically extract content or data from Avanti Medico, except as expressly permitted.
- Upload or submit anything unlawful, harmful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to any person or organisation.
We may apply fair-use limits and other measures to keep the service available and sustainable for everyone.
7. Plans, pricing and payment
Nobody can subscribe today, and no payment is taken. When Avanti Medico opens, Avanti Medico will offer a free service within fair-use limits and a paid Unlimited plan, as set out on the pricing page.
- Free use. The free plans will be provided at no cost, subject to fair-use limits that may change from time to time.
- Unlimited. The Unlimited plan will cost £3.99 per month, or £39.99 per year. All prices we display include VAT. It will be billed in advance through our payment provider, Stripe.
- Billing. When you subscribe, you will authorise us, through Stripe, to charge the subscription fee at the start of each billing period — monthly or annually, according to the plan you choose — until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You will be able to cancel Unlimited at any time from your account settings. There will be no notice period and no cancellation fee. You will keep Unlimited until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which your account will move to the free registered plan.
- Price changes. If we change the price of Unlimited, we will give existing subscribers reasonable advance notice by email, and they will be able to cancel before the new price takes effect.
- Refunds. Because you will be able to cancel at any time and the free plans will let you try the service before paying, we will not routinely refund a billing period already used. If a charge is ever made in error, contact us and we will put it right. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
8. Intellectual property
Avanti Medico, its design, its software, and its original content are owned by Avanti Mind Ltd or its licensors, and are protected by intellectual property law.
The underlying health information is drawn from NHS sources made available under the Open Government Licence, and is attributed accordingly.
You may use Avanti Medico for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, resell, or systematically extract Avanti Medico's content or software except as expressly permitted by these terms or by law.
9. Content you provide
When you submit content to Avanti Medico — for example, questions, conversation messages, or feedback — you keep ownership of it, and you grant Avanti Mind Ltd a licence to use that content as needed to provide the service to you, to keep the service safe, and to improve it, including in anonymised or aggregated form that does not identify you.
You are responsible for the content you submit. Please do not submit sensitive personal information about yourself or anyone else beyond what is necessary to use the service.
10. Availability of the service
We work to keep Avanti Medico available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict the service, or any part of it, for maintenance, for security, or for other operational reasons. Where we can, we will give notice.
We may also change the service, its features, and these terms, from time to time. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that:
- Avanti Medico is provided for general information. We do not accept liability for any decision you make, or do not make, about your health on the basis of Avanti Medico's content. The right course is always to seek professional medical advice.
- We are not liable for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, that was not caused by our breach, or that arises from your failure to follow these terms.
- Avanti Medico is provided for personal, non-commercial use. We are not liable for business losses.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.
12. Your responsibility to us
When Avanti Medico opens, you will agree to use Avanti Medico in line with these terms and the law. If your misuse of the service causes us loss, you may be responsible for it.
13. If something goes wrong
If you have a problem with the service, or you think Avanti Medico's content is inaccurate or unsafe, please contact us — we want to know, and we treat safety concerns as a priority.
If your concern is about your own health, please remember that the contact route is not a route to medical help. For an emergency call 999, and for urgent help call NHS 111.
14. Ending these terms
You may stop using Avanti Medico at any time, and once accounts are open you will be able to delete your account at any time from your account settings.
We may suspend or end your access to Avanti Medico if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where we end your access other than for a serious breach, we will give reasonable notice.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute relating to them is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
16. How to contact us
You can contact us:
- By post: Avanti Mind Ltd, The Venture Centre, Sir William Lyons Road, University of Warwick Science Park, Coventry, England, CV4 7EZ
- Through the website: our contact page.
17. General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms continue to apply. If we do not enforce a right under these terms, that is not a waiver of that right. When Avanti Medico opens, these terms will be the agreement between you and Avanti Mind Ltd for your use of Avanti Medico.
